In 1666, Louis XIV himself inaugurated the Fountains Show within the Gardens of the palace of Versailles. Back then, water supply was a technical challenge to match the Sun King’s appetite for recognition. It required gigantic construction work.
The Water Fountains Show is an entrancing performance with the fountains running in full-play with music pieces essentially from Lully, Gluck and Rameau and combined with with eight walks or sound areas.
The show only takes place on week ends from April to October and at night the Grandes Eaux nocturnes are organized on week ends in July and August. Additional restrictions may apply regarding dates of operation. Please inquire.
